Re-l hears the doorbell, but she's gone so far into her memories - real and imagined - that it takes her a long moment to process the sound. World, dream, supply depot, ringing, doorbell. She looks up and finds that an older man, very neatly dressed, has already edged his way around the crates and boxes, and is standing over her desk. She blinks up at him, her eyeshadow flashing twice, brighter than anything else in the room.

"Yes," she says, and then she thinks that she should have been polite and then she decides it doesn't really matter.
