Today is the first day of the rest of your lives [ opening post ]

WHO: EVERYONE. NPCs will be around to actively engage if you so desire.
WHAT: Sleepers wake and begin to figure out just what, exactly, they are supposed to do with themselves. tl;dr: REACTION POST for new characters to get out and mingle.
WHERE: Everywhere. Mostly the living quarters, but really: anywhere you want.
WHEN: The first week, April 1st through April 7th.
WARNINGS: Travis Touchdown (Ryan LeCourt) has quite a mouth on him.
NOTES: This is a serious game, guys. WE’RE SUPER SRS HERE. This may be a lie.

Shimmering blue blanketed the underground city as the light reflected off the sapphires in the ceiling. It cast its eerie glow, almost mimicking the effect of light on water without the sort of freeing peace one might feel with the soft ocean waves. Figuring out how deep down the city was located was near impossible when the air was obviously heated to something approaching comfortable, and nothing seemed to echo too far past the quiet hum of the city.

Workers made their way down the street, every one with a Sleeper in tow. Something that would have been unheard of only a few days ago, now more likely than one would think. They intended to start slow, but considering how many others were still in cryo, this was a laidback pace.

"This is sadly true." Jonas admitted with an amused grin before cocking his head. Now, he knew he hadn't read to much into how the Doctor spoke of humans as if he wasn't one. "Are you saying you weren't human?" He worded it carefully, since either way it was correct. If the Doctor had believed he wasn't human in the dream or if he had been one before coming here. As far as Jonas could tell, everyone was human here, whatever they dreamed they were. At least he didn't have to worry about that.

But in answer to the other man's wonderings, Jonas shrugged. "Depends based on the technology available I supposed. And the need. It's amazing how fast people can work under pressure." Or so he'd seen during the constant warfare on his planet. "I'm still not exactly sure why we were put to sleep in the first place, if what they told us was true."

In place of an answer, the Doctor gave the man a knowing look, with that smugness of his still present in his smile. It vanished shortly after, replaced with curiosity. "And what of you?" he asked. "Were you human?" Whether he was now or not remained to be seen, and if he hadn't been... Well, there were races that looked human yet weren't. He was an example of that.

"Oh, yes. Whatever caused all this could have pushed them to work much harder." He gave a soft chuckle. "That's one thing no one could ever fault in humanity." Need, curiosity, desire - all of these things pushed humans into accomplishing so much, and the Doctor couldn't help but smile at that. "Hopefully we'll be able to learn what transpired. There must be records."

Jonas caught the look and cocked his head curiously. It took everything in him not ask any further questions, though he desperately wanted too. Perhaps later. "Yes, I am. Generally speaking." He didn't know if he still carried the genetic differences Kelownans and the others from his planet had evolved separately from the Tau'ri of Earth. He certainly didn't feel any different.

Though he did chuckle at the Doctor's comment. "Humans do have a remarkable capacity to perform in a pinch." And it was true, no matter what planet they visited. "That's what I'm hoping to find. If they expect us to remember, they have to give us something to go on, or at least to confirm that what we are remembering is correct. Even a total dictator can't guarantee that everyone will believe just what they are told without proof."

Well, that was one human so far. Of course, he had no way of knowing who was and wasn't human simply by appearances, nor who should or shouldn't be here, outside of himself. It was entirely possible many of those 'waking up' actually had been dreaming all those years... Interesting. He'd have to look more into that.

"Ah, yes. Well, we were given proof. I was, at least. Ah, a few items, actually. Study notes, a doctorate, and a photograph." If they expected that to be enough, they had another thing coming. "Did you find anything like that?"

Jonas' thought were along the same line. And his mind was already planning out how he could study what people dreamed about and how it effected this world. It might go some way into explaining the situation and whether it was real or not. He'd have to look into it, if it looked like they were going to be stuck here for long.

"I was too, though I'm not sure what kind of proof it was. I also have evidence of education and notes, including a voice recorder with my voice." He frowned slightly. "But...the voice, while mine, had an accent like yours. As far as I know, I've never had an accent like that."

The Doctor quirked his brows. "Now that is interesting. I'm afraid I didn't have anything with my voice on it to be able to compare to, though the notes were in my handwriting." He, of course, figured the writing had been forged somehow. If these people did have the technology to take people as he believed, forgery would be a simple enough matter.

"I suppose all we can really do is see what there is to see, hmm? Poke around a bit, see what's in the library, that sort of thing." Information gathering wasn't something the Doctor minded doing, at least not much.

Jonas visibly brightened at the mention of a library. He'd discovered early on that no matter what planet he was one, libraries felt like home. It would be a comfort even if they didn't find any useful information. "Yes, I think that would be a good start. Would you mind if I joined you?"

The Doctor smiled, brightening himself. It wasn't often he found someone actually interested in books. "Not at all, my good man. Not at all. It may make things easier with two sets of eyes doing the reading, hmm?" Even if they reread the same things, different perspectives meant they might pick up on different things.

"It would be my pleasure then." Jonas had done his best to memorize Dr. Jackson's library upon his arrival at the SGC to fit in, so obviously he felt comfortable using the same approach here. What better way was there to get used to a surroundings then to learn as much as about it as possible?

"Very good!" The Doctor gave a clap of his hands, eager to get off to the library, or.. well, anywhere, really. His steps took him to the entrance of the living quarters, but once outside, the old man stopped and peered around at the streets, having no idea where the library was just yet. And he didn't have a map. Hmm.

He turned back to Jonas with a chuckle. "You wouldn't happen to know where it is, would you?" If that failed, there was always asking the Workers.
