Today is the first day of the rest of your lives [ opening post ]
WHO: EVERYONE. NPCs will be around to actively engage if you so desire.
WHAT: Sleepers wake and begin to figure out just what, exactly, they are supposed to do with themselves. tl;dr: REACTION POST for new characters to get out and mingle.
WHERE: Everywhere. Mostly the living quarters, but really: anywhere you want.
WHEN: The first week, April 1st through April 7th.
WARNINGS: Travis Touchdown (Ryan LeCourt) has quite a mouth on him.
NOTES: This is a serious game, guys. WE’RE SUPER SRS HERE.This may be a lie.
Shimmering blue blanketed the underground city as the light reflected off the sapphires in the ceiling. It cast its eerie glow, almost mimicking the effect of light on water without the sort of freeing peace one might feel with the soft ocean waves. Figuring out how deep down the city was located was near impossible when the air was obviously heated to something approaching comfortable, and nothing seemed to echo too far past the quiet hum of the city.
Workers made their way down the street, every one with a Sleeper in tow. Something that would have been unheard of only a few days ago, now more likely than one would think. They intended to start slow, but considering how many others were still in cryo, this was a laidback pace.

Hope you don't mind an NPC...
It meant he had to pull extra shifts at the entrance to the Cave, too, which just sucked complete ass.
"Hey!" he called, climbing out from the his little alcove nearby. There were plenty of those the further one got from the general smoothness of the underground city. The katana at his side almost got caught on a stalagmite, but practice kept him from making a total fool of himself... for once. "You going somewhere?"
I don't mind at all~
His lips curved into a smile that could easily pass for friendly as the guy approached, and he gave a dismissive little shrug by way of response. "I'm just looking. There's no need for concern."

"Yoohoos?" he raised a questioning brow, clearly unfamiliar with the term, "and sure, for our own protection no doubt. Is it really so bad out there?"

He said it as a statement rather than a question, despite not knowing how much truth there was to that. He shrugged again and turned a little to focus his attention on the entrance to the Cave, though he kept the guy in his peripheral field of vision, just in case. He'd said he looked Northern, something that tallied with the information about his so-called true self, but while he felt a mild temptation to ask questions about the place he'd supposedly been born in, he decided to let it slide for now. There were other ways of obtaining that kind of information without having to ask, after all.
"So it's dangerous. And yet, at some point or another we will be expected to go out there, right?"
no subject
"You got that right. But first you gotta spend some time in ranking up your Get A Goddamn Clue levels."
no subject
He threw a more overt glance in the other guy's direction, then. "You're expecting our memories to return, or you're just planning to prepare us for whatever's so big and bad about the world out there?"

The the truth of the matter was he had little inclination to 'misbehave' just yet, not when he was still trying to make sense of the situation. He had few qualms when it came to breaking rules or of stepping outside socially acceptable boundaries, but he'd like to be clear on what risks he would be taking, first.
"And I guess that's okay. I like surprises," and he laughed again, "at least, I think I do."
no subject
"You and me both. Guess that's one thing we have in common."
no subject
"It's probably just as well, right? I expect I'll be facing a good number of them in the coming weeks."

"I'm pretty sure I can deal with it. Humans are nothing if not adaptable, after all, though some are of course more adaptable than others."

So he didn't believe that his 'dream' life was a lie and that his current reality was all he'd ever truly known in a physical sense, but that was no reason not to play along until he was in a better position to research it more fully. That, and his interest was honest enough; he couldn't imagine that everyone who woke up to this story would deal with it as calmly as he had; the results on their mental state could be interesting, as far as he was concerned.

"I'm sure it'd make your day more interesting, if nothing else."

It might be fun to watch, however.

Yeah, Ryan was pretty sure he could grow to like this guy. Not many people tended to agree with his violent outlook on things and this was as close as agreement as Ryan was going to get.

Still, the smile he gave in response to the other man's words could only be described as pleasant.
