WHEN: June 8th (Friday) through June 12th (Tuesday).

NOTES:

Dawn on the departure date for the next group to go on their pilgrimage was grey and misty. Packs with a week's supply of food, clothing, and water as well as small first aid kits, their compasses, and weapons were given hastily to the Sleepers before they were herded out to the mouth of the Cave. The Workers gave only the minimum amount of advice ("follow the compass" and "watch out for the beasts out there") before they kicked the Sleepers out, blocking off the way back into the Cave with their bodies and stun weapons pointed at the Sleepers. It was very clear what they wanted. They wanted them out.

The wasteland before them was one thing that had stayed the same. It was still as desolate as ever with no signs of anything living out before them. Large pieces of glass jutted out of the ground like watchtowers looking over the remains of what was once a living, beautiful world. The mist would clear soon enough and even then, there was nothing to be seen but dust and glass for miles ahead. Time to get going, Sleepers. You have a long walk ahead of you.

It was warm and humid in the wasteland today, definitely not the type of weather to be walking along in the emptiness of the world with very little shade beyond the non-reflective glass spires in the distance. There is always the choice to try going a different direction than straight to the city, but there's nowhere else to go.

Later on in the day, there is the chance to see what looks like people off into the distance, but when you look away, they seem to vanish. Even when they are gone, the feeling of being watched is there and it doesn't go away until late into the night.

The day starts with a crack of thunder and doesn't get better from there. Dark clouds cover the sky and it rains for the entire day with no signs of stopping, only lightening up every so often. There isn't much cover for the rain out here except for some barely standing ruins and even then it's not much. The rain is never too much to make travel impossible, but it is an annoyance.

Sometime during the night, the rain had stopped and the next day was warm and sunny. During the afternoon, there was something different to be found in the land. There was a small patch of land that was alive with grass, bushes, and small trees. In the area, there were signs that something or someone had lived there, but the rain had washed most of it away. In any case, it was still a good place to rest before continuing onward.

Finally, there's a sign that the travel's almost over. The impassible canyon that the last group had reached was not in front of them, but there was a difference. Where it seemed impassible to the others, there was now a bridge spanning the ravine. The city was in the distance, the tall skyscrapers glittering in between the clouds, but the journey wasn't quite over. There was still a way to go just yet.

It wasn't far now until they reached the city and there was a path leading into the city that had seen some use in the past. The reason why became clear as they moved closer. A makeshift graveyard sat outside of the city, whatever survivors of the Disaster using what they could find as headstones for their fallen friends and family. There were hundreds of these headstones of different types on the path in, interrupted in some areas by half-buried metal structures that were rusting away into nothing. It was a grim reminder of what had happened to the city and its people and it was oddly fitting that it was in the path of those who were supposed to be rebuilding.
